Lapin vuosilustoaineistot kertovat menneiden kesien lämpötiloista

Uusi tutkimus osoittaa, että kesä 2024 oli Pohjois-Fennoskandiassa poikkeuksellisen lämmin, eikä vain suoran mittaushistorian aikana, vaan hyvin todennäköisesti koko ajanlaskumme ajalta. Sodankylän Tähtelässä kesän (kesä-elokuu) 2024 keskilämpötila oli 15,9°C, joka oli edellistä ennätystä (vuodelta 1937) 0,4°C korkeampi. Kahteen eri menetelmään perustuvat vuosirengasrekonstruktiot osoittavat, että kesän 2024 keskilämpötila oli alueella korkein jopa viimeisten kahden vuosituhannen aikana.
