Professor and academician Markku Kulmala of the University of Helsinki, Director of the ACCC, has been appointed Honorary Professor and Guest Lecturer at Tsinghua University. The appointment was announced last week at a ceremony where Professor Kulmala also delivered a keynote speech titled “For Our Only Planet.”
In his keynote, Professor Kulmala addressed global environmental challenges and highlighted the importance of building open data systems, scientific platforms, and collaborative frameworks that connect research, innovation, and policymaking.
The ceremony was attended by Tsinghua University Vice President Wang Hongwei, who presented the letter of appointment, and Finland’s Ambassador to China, Mikko Kinnunen, who delivered remarks at the event.
Vice President Wang praised Professor Kulmala’s outstanding contributions to atmospheric aerosol science and recognized the long-standing cooperation between Tsinghua University and his research teams. He also expressed hope that Professor Kulmala will continue to expand his international academic impact.
