{"id":3993,"date":"2025-05-15T12:47:39","date_gmt":"2025-05-15T09:47:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.acccflagship.fi\/?p=3993"},"modified":"2025-05-15T13:00:30","modified_gmt":"2025-05-15T10:00:30","slug":"3993","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.acccflagship.fi\/index.php\/2025\/05\/15\/3993\/","title":{"rendered":"Finding ways to bring together terrestrial carbon cycle modelling with remote sensing observations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Researchers from the Finnish Meteorological Institute participated in two studies that made progress in the use of remote sensing observations in terrestrial carbon cycle models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the first study a model called D&amp;B was developed, which can use satellite observations directly in data assimilation to infer carbon pools and fluxes. This study was a collaboration between experimentalists, modellers and remote sensing researchers. Photo: Juuso Rainne.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In another study a terrestrial biosphere model QUINCY, including nutrient (nitrogen and phosphorus) as well as water and energy cycles, was used to study carbon cycle in a Canadian deciduous forest&nbsp; over a period of 20 years.
